At Feather Hill Interiors, we believe that each space we design is a story waiting to unfold. As designers, we view ourselves as the storytellers, weaving together textures, tones, and timeless pieces to create a harmonious narrative that embodies our clients' vision. Today, we're excited to offer an intimate look into our design process. Let's embark on this journey, guided by a recent project - a coastal home that perfectly exemplifies our clean, fresh, and subtly feminine aesthetic.

Our Collaboration: Two Designers, One Vision

Behind every great design, there's a team of visionaries that brings it to life. At Feather Hill Interiors, we are fortunate enough to be led by two such creatives - Genevieve and Ashley. Our collaboration is akin to a well-rehearsed dance, where each of us understands our individual roles, yet we function as a harmonious unit.

Genevieve, with her keen eye for spatial planning and details, focuses on how the space works and feels. Ashley, with her background in art and textiles, brings an expert perspective on materials, colours, and aesthetic touches. This dynamic synergy results in spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional, mirroring our love for neutrals and a minimalist beach aesthetic.

Finding Inspiration: Everywhere and Anywhere

Our inspiration comes from the world around us. From the ever-changing hues of the sea to the time-worn texture of an antique book, the softness of a fabric or a unique architectural feature - we find beauty everywhere. We often turn to nature, fashion, and architecture, drawing parallels between these realms and translating them into our designs.

In the case of our coastal project, we were inspired by the serene blues of the ocean, the warmth of the sun-soaked sand, and the breezy ambiance of coastal life. This inspiration is reflected in our choice of soft, neutral tones, organic materials, and minimalistic yet inviting furnishings.

Design Decisions: An Intersection of Art and Science

Design, to us, is an art grounded in science. Each decision we make is deeply considered, balancing aesthetics and functionality. We start with a deep understanding of our client's lifestyle, needs, and desires. Next, we delve into spatial planning, ensuring that every square inch is utilized to its fullest potential.

Following this, we curate a palette that matches our clients' vision and complements the space's architecture. For our recent beach house project, we opted for a blend of soothing neutrals, splashes of coastal blues, and warm wood tones.

We then layer in furnishings, focusing on pieces that marry form and function, reflecting the space's purpose and our client's personality. And finally, we add the finishing touches - be it a piece of art, a unique decor item, or a stack of well-thumbed books, these personal touches make the space truly feel like home.

Our journey on this coastal home project, like all our projects, was a labor of love. It's a testament to our design ethos - clean, fresh, and at times, subtly feminine. Through this insight into our process, we hope you feel inspired and excited for your own design journey. Remember, great design isn't just about creating a beautiful space, it's about telling a story.

At Feather Hill Interiors, we believe in creating narratives with our designs, stories that are woven into the fabric of each space we curate. This ethos is brought to life by our dynamic design duo, Genevieve and Ashley, who blend their unique skills to turn your design dreams into reality.
